I am honoured to live and work in Treaty 7 territory, home of the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Piikani, Siksika, and Kainai Nations), as well as the Stony Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations, and Métis Region 3. I acknowledge all the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have chosen to make southern Alberta their home.

As an employee, board member, facilitator, contractor, and volunteer, Alexandra Hatcher has worked with, and for, non-profit and public sector cultural organizations for over twenty years. Facilitating visioning and strategic planning work, and building capacity in the arts and heritage sector, Alexandra has worked with a variety of heritage organizations including the Edmonton Heritage Council, the Archives Society of Alberta, and Telus World of Science – Edmonton.  She established Alexandra Hatcher Consulting—a consulting and project management practice—in 2017; recent clients include the City of Calgary’s Public Art Program, Arts Commons, and the Banff Canmore Community Foundation.

During her tenure as the Director, Musée Héritage Museum, in St. Albert, Alexandra was responsible for all areas of museum practice and administration. She oversaw the development of the award‐ winning exhibition, Proud Traditions: Métis Culture and Heritage, the redevelopment of the museum’s permanent exhibition, and the development of policies and procedures for the collection and exhibition of artifacts and archival materials for the museum, heritage sites and public art gallery included in the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert.

As Executive Director / CEO of the Alberta Museums Association (AMA) from 2009‒2014, Alexandra directed a team that developed, delivered, and evaluated a variety of programs, including a Grants Program, professional development opportunities, publications and advisory services.

From 2014‒2017, Alexandra was the Director, Site Operations for Alberta Culture and Tourism’s Historic Sites and Museums, overseeing curatorial and conservation functions for the branch and managing fourteen museums, interpretive centres and historic sites throughout the province, including Rutherford House Provincial Historic Site, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site, and Remington Carriage Museum.

Alexandra is alumni of the Getty Center’s Museum Leadership Institute. In 2010, she was named one of Edmonton Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 and in November 2011 was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from MacEwan University.
